Cleveland, OH-Melissa Holzopfel has been named the Horizon League Softball Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season. Holzopfel claims the final regular season league weekly award after helping Cleveland State to two victories this past weekend over Northern Kentucky to close the regular season. 

Holzopfel yielded just one earned run in 13 innings of work in earning two victories in the circle. She pitched a complete-game shutout in the series opener on Friday as she allowed just two hits and four total baserunners in Cleveland State's 3-0 victory.

In the series finale she held NKU to one earned run and four hits over six innings. She struck out nine batters to bring her strikeout total for the weekend to 14.

The series win over NKU allowed the Vikings to lock up the no. 3 seed in the upcoming Horizon League Softball Tournament. The tournament begins on Wednesday at Youngstown State. Cleveland State will take on no. 6 seed IUPUI in the opening round of the double-elimination tournament on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.
