CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Vikings (18-23, 14-10) upended Northern Kentucky (22-20, 14-10) 7-2 in the regular season finale and senior day on Saturday afternoon. Prior to the game, Cleveland State recognized their six seniors: Jenna Watts, Kiera Frascone, Jenna Deang, Becky Hurosky Alexa Sieger, and Torrie Jenkins.

Brooke Albaugh laced the first pitch of the bottom of the first to center for a single and then moved to second on a Deang sacrifice bunt. Following a pop-up, Hurosky drilled an RBI single through the right side for a 1-0 lead. After a wild pitch moved her up a base, Emma Gilkerson made it 2-0 with an RBI single to left.

Kiera Frascone connected on a two-out single up the middle in the second and then came across on an Albaugh triple down the right-field line to make it 3-0.

Northern Kentucky got on the board in the third with a pair of runs, one of which was unearned, to trail 3-2.

The Vikings got a run back in the fourth on a leadoff home run to center by Spellman to make it 4-2. For the second straight inning, Cleveland State led off with a home run, this time by Melissa Holzopfel to left.

In the sixth, Gorsuch and Frascone connected on back-to-back singles before moving up a base on a passed ball. Albaugh then brought home both runners with a double to center to lead 7-2.

Holzopfel improved to 15-8 in the circle after tossing six innings with nine strikeouts. Tori Jenkins got the start, pitching a perfect first inning.

Cleveland State had 12 hits in the game led by a four-for-four afternoon from leadoff hitter, Albaugh, who also drove in a game-best three runs. Gorsuch and Frascone each recorded multiple hits.

The Green and White will now turn their attention to the Horizon League Tournament which begins on Wednesday at Youngstown State.
