Cleveland State Softball Hits the Road For Three Game Set at Green Bay

Green Bay, WI-The Cleveland State softball team continues Horizon League play as the Vikings travel to Green Bay for a three-game weekend series starting Friday afternoon. Game one is scheduled for a 3:00 p.m. first pitch with a doubleheader scheduled for Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. first pitch. 

The Vikings are 3-3 through the first two league series of the season. Cleveland State took two of three from IUPUI to kick off league play and dropped two of three to Oakland this past weekend.

Green Bay is 2-7 in league play. The Phoenix won their first two league games and have dropped seven in a row since, with the last three games coming at home to Youngstown State last weekend. The Penguins lead the league with an unblemished 9-0 record.

Brooke Albaugh continues to swing a hot bat for the Vikings as she leads the team in batting average at .333 and hits with 22. She is second in RBI and one of two players on the team with double-digit runs driven in with 10 through the first 22 games.

Melissa Holzopfel carries a 2.66 ERA into the weekend in the circle. Holzopfel has struck out 57 batters in 76 innings of work for an average of 5.23 strikeouts per seven innings of work.
