Indinanapolis, IN-The Cleveland State softball team fell on Friday to IUPUI 7-0 in Indianapolis in the opening game of league play for both teams.

IUPUI scored three runs on the strength of a hit and two Cleveland State errors in the bottom of the first inning. The Jaguars followed with a single run in the second to take an early 4-0 lead.

The Vikings were unable to push a run across, as IUPUI starter Alexa Holman scattered six hits across seven scoreless innings of work. Kiera Frascone finished 2-for-3 at the plate for the Vikings, including the lone extra-base hit, a double to lead off the third inning.

The Jaguars added three more runs in their final two at bats for the 7-0 final score.

The two teams will finish the three-game series tomorrow, squaring off in a doubleheader with the first game starting at 1:00 p.m.
