Cleveland State Softball Set for Trip to Hawai’i

Honolulu, HI-The Cleveland State softball team travels south for the week as the Vikings compete in the OUTRIGGER Rainbow Wahine Classic hosted by the University of Hawai'i starting March 6th. Cleveland State will play a total of eight games in the tournament which will be the final non-conference trip before Horizon League play begins on March 15.

Cleveland State will match up with New Mexico, UConn and host Hawai'I with two games scheduled for each competition day throughout the tournament, weather permitting. 

Live stats will be available for all games and a live radio broadcast will be available for select games in the tournament. There will be no live video streaming for any games.

Brooke Albaugh leads the way offensively for CSU, registering a .320 batting average over the first two weekends of play. Albaugh leads the team with eight hits and six RBI over the first nine games.

Melissa Holzopfel looks to continue her success in the circle for the Vikings. Holzopfel has registered a 3-2 record in the first two weekends of play. She has yielded just seven earned runs in 36 innings of work, good for a 1.36 ERA. She has tallied 28 strikeouts against 14 walks in five combined appearances.

Action begins on Wednesday with the opening game of the tournament as the Vikings take on New Mexico at 3:30 HT, which is 8:30 eastern time. The Vikings will then take on host Hawai'I in the nightcap on Wednesday at 11:00 p.m. eastern.
