Cleveland State Softball Heads to NC State for Wolfpack Classic

Raleigh, NC-The Cleveland State softball team heads to North Carolina for its second weekend tournament of the 2024 season. The Vikings are coming off a 2-3 weekend two weeks ago at the Charleston Invitational to start the season.

Cleveland State will face off against four teams in the three-day event which begins Friday morning. The Vikings will play two games on Friday against Iona and Appalachian State, followed by two on Saturday and a single game against the host Wolfpack on Sunday. The fourth team the Vikings will face in the tournament is UAlbany.

Brooke Albaugh is coming off of a big opening weekend offensively for the Vikings. Albaugh hit .400 with six hits and six RBI over the first five games of the season. Three of those six hits went for extra bases.

Melissa Holzopfel leads the way in the circle for CSU. Holzopfel finished the opening weekend with a 2-1 record and a 1.83 ERA over three appearances. She logged 13 strikeouts and yielded just six earned runs over 23 innings of work.

Live stats will be available for all games throughout the tournament, with a live stream available for Sunday's game against NC State on ESPN+. Action begins with the first game against Iona which has been moved to a 10:00 a.m. first pitch on Friday morning.
