Cleveland State Softball Lands Two on #HLSB All-Academic Teams

Cleveland, OH-Cleveland State softball had two student-athletes earn spots on the 2023 Horizon League Softball All-Academic teams, as the league announced its all-academic teams today. 

Jenna Deang has earned All-Academic team recognition and Jenna Watts has been named to the honorable mention team. 

Deang, a junior from Mokena, Illinois, carries a 3.91 GPA as a Marketing major. She has now been named to the all-academic team in back-to-back seasons. Deang has been named to the Horizon League's Academic Honor Roll for three consecutive semesters. She has also earned President's List recognition from Cleveland State the last two semesters. 

Deang is hitting .377 on the season and ranks seventh in the league with 23 hits in conference games. 

Watts earned a spot on the honorable mention team for the first time. The junior from Dublin, OH carries a 3.98 GPA as a Mechanical Engineering major. Watts has also been named to the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll in three consecutive semesters and earned President's List honors twice. 

On the field, she has appeared in 16 games as a pitcher and tallied two wins. She has totaled 10 strikeouts so far this season. 

The Vikings are set to host Robert Morris today in the opener of a three-game series at Viking Field today. This marks the final regular season series of the season for both teams.
