MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The Cleveland State softball program heads East to the Pittsburgh tri-state area for a Horizon League showdown against first-place Robert Morris University this weekend at the North Athletic Complex.

The two teams will meet up for a doubleheader on Saturday, April 2, beginning at 2 PM ET, and will concludes the season-series with a single-game on Sunday, April 3 at noon.

ICYMI: CSU announces schedule changes to weekend series at RMU

All three games will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

Due to some bad luck with weather, CSU hasn't been able to take to the field since its 10-2 win over Purdue Fort Wayne back on March 20. Over the next week (from April 2-9), the Vikes will play in nine Horizon League contests.

Even with the shifts in the schedule, Cleveland State remains at the top of the conference standings, currently tied for third overall with their mark of 5-1 in HL play. RMU is still unbeaten to open the season and leads the conference with a perfect record of 5-0 in Horizon League contests.

Melissa Holzopfel has been a rock in the circle for the Vikings as the freshman from Massillon, Ohio leads the Horizon League in strikeouts with 107 punchouts over 85 innings pitched. She is also ranked in a tie for second in the league with 28 looking strikeouts, fourth in wins (six) and fifth in opponent batting average (.239).

On the offensive side, Cleveland State comes into the weekend third in hits (161), fourth in batting average (.247), fourth in RBI (87) and fourth in on-base percentage (.323) as a unit.

It has been a true team effort on the offensive side of the ball this season for the Vikings. While Holzopfel leads CSU in both hits (24) and runs scored (12), eight different Vikes have recorded seven or more RBI. Jenna Deang, Courtney Fernette and Becky Hurosky pace the group with nine RBI apiece, respectively.

Deang is also just outside the top-10 in the Horizon with her .317 batting average and tied for seventh in the conference with six stolen bases. Both marks lead the team.
