Vikings Face Falcons in Final Non-Confernce Games of Season

CLEVELAND -- Cleveland State will step out of conference for the final time in 2019 when it travels to Bowling Green State to take on the Falcons on Tuesday (April 30) for a doubleheader scheduled for a 3 p.m. start at Meserve Field.

The Vikings are coming off of a home series against Wright State which saw Cleveland State capture two of the three games. The Vikings won the opening game 3-2 in eight innings before Wright State bounced back to win game two 5-1. Cleveland State won the rubber game of the series behind home runs from Kelly Hysong and Sydney Bajusz.

Cleveland State, which is 14-31 overall and 7-14 in the Horizon League, will conclude the 2019 regular season with a three-game series at Northern Kentucky beginning on Friday (May 3).

Bowling Green State, which is 20-28 on the season, is 4-3 versus the Horizon League this season. The Falcons swept Oakland in a doubleheader, won two of three games versus Wright State and was swept by Detroit Mercy.

Hysong, who is second in the Horizon League in both home runs and doubles, leads the Vikings with a .325 batting average, 14 doubles, 11 home runs and 27 RBIs. She also leads Cleveland State with eight wins in the circle and a 3.65 earned run average.

Senior Riley Ries is second on the team with a .321 batting average and leads the team with a .410 on-base percentage. Lindsay Ward is second on the team with three homes runs and ranks fourth on the team with 12 RBIs.

Hanna Griffin ranks second on Cleveland State with six wins on the season and also is second on the squad with a 4.46 ERA.

Bowling Green State leads the all-time series against the Vikings 21-8 and has won the last two meetings. Cleveland State's last win in the series came during the 2016 season when the Vikings posted an 8-5 win at Viking Field.
