GAME NOTES (PDF)

CLEVELAND -- After playing the first 27 games of the season on the road, or at a neutral site, Cleveland State will play its home opener this weekend against Green Bay at Viking Field. The teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday (April 6) and a single game on Sunday (April 7).

The series was originally scheduled to begin on Friday, but the schedule was altered due to rain in the Cleveland area.

Cleveland State, which is 7-20 overall and 0-3 in the Horizon League, last saw action on March 27 with a doubleheader at Robert Morris. The teams split the doubleheader with Robert Morris winning the opener 6-5, while the Vikings bounced back to win game two 8-5.

Senior Riley Ries led the Vikings as she went 5-for-8 in the two games with two doubles, a home run and six RBIs. She went 2-for-4 with three RBIs in game one and then went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs in game two.

Ries currently leads the Vikings in batting average (.338), doubles (10), runs batted in (19) and on-base percentage (.447). She has struck out only four times all season and has a slugging percentage of .506 on the year.

Junior Kelly Hysong is batting .320 on the year and leads the team with six homers, 14 runs scored and a .610 slugging percentage. She also tops the team with 32 hits and is second on the squad with nine doubles.

Freshman Alyssa Rose is hitting .288 on the year with five RBIs, while Sydney Bajusz is hitting .250 and is tied for second on the team with nine doubles.

Freshman Hanna Griffin leads the Vikings in the circle as she has a 4-9 overall record and an earned run average of 5.18. Hysong is 3-7 on the year with a 5.57 ERA and Rose is 0-2 on the season.

The all-time series between the two teams is tied at 39-39, but the Phoenix won the season series last year.

Saturday's doubleheader will begin at 1 p.m. and Sunday's single game will also start at 1 p.m.
