Woodard Has Three Hits in Series Opening Setback at Wright State

FAIRBORN, Ohio - Mel Woodard had three hits, scored a run and drove in a run, but Cleveland State dropped the series opener at Wright State, 7-2, on Friday evening in a game that was delayed by rain at the start.

Woodard - who has 10 hits in her last four games - is now hitting a team-best .341 this year. She has three hits in three of her last four games and 13 multi-hit games this year.

The Raiders jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings today with a run in the first and three more in the second.

The Vikings sliced the lead in half with two runs in the third on Woodard's RBI single and an RBI double by Mackenzie Joecken, but Wright State would add three more runs in the fifth.

Alicia Major started for the Vikings and worked four innings, while Kristin Catalano pitched the final two innings.

The Vikings close the 2018 season with a doubleheader at Wright State on Saturday with the first game at 1:00 pm.
