Softball Season Ends With 1-0 Setback to Wright State

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The sixth-seeded Cleveland State softball team had its season come to a close with a 1-0 loss to No. 3 Wright State in an elimination game of the Horizon League Softball Championship on Wednesday evening at Oakland.

CSU finishes the season with a 23-29 record, while Wright State improves to 20-32. The Raiders advance to another elimination game on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. against an opponent to be determined.

The Raiders scored the lone run of the game in the fifth inning on an RBI double from Jess Gorman that scored pinch runner Ashton Salyers.

The Vikings had six hits in the contest - one each by Cynthia Woodard, Erica McNew, Alyson Broschk, Katelind Phillips, Mackenzie Joecken and Alisha Silva.

CSU had a scoring threat in the fourth inning, loading the bases on a Woodard double, an intentional walk to McNew and a Broschk single, but could not plate a run.

Alex Radjen was strong in the circle for the Vikings, working five innings and giving up seven hits with two strikeouts.
