Vikings Drop Series Finale at Green Bay, 4-3

GREEN BAY, Wis. - Cleveland State's seventh inning rally came up just short as the Vikings fell at Green Bay, 4-3, in the series finale on Saturday afternoon.

CSU fell to 17-13 overall and 2-4 in the league, while the Phoenix improved to 11-14 overall and 4-2 in the Horizon League.

Susan Knight went 2-for-3 at the plate, tallying two of CSU's five hits. Alyson Broschk, Katelind Phillips and Hannah Yoe all had one hit.

CSU took a 1-0 lead in the first when Knight singled with one out and came around to score on a Phoenix error. It stayed that way until the fifth when the Phoenix tied the game at 1-1 with a two-out RBI single.

Green Bay added three runs in the sixth to take a 4-1 lead before CSU scored two times in the seventh.

Broschk and Phillips led off the inning with singles and after two Vikings were retured, Broschk came around to score on a passed ball. Yoe followed with an RBI double to score pinch runner Emma Nicholas, but Nena Doran popped up to second base to end the game.

The Vikings are back in action next weekend (April 10-11) for a three-game series at Youngstown State. The teams will play a single game on Friday at 3:00 pm and a doubleheader on Saturday with the first game slated to start at 1:00 pm.
