CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Cleveland State freshman Heather Clapacs, who was a dominant player in the midfield for the Vikings during the 2004 season, has received honorable mention All-Ohio honors in balloting conducted by the head women's soccer coaches in the state.

In addition, Clapacs was named to the All-Newcomer team for first year NCAA Division I programs by SoccerBuzz.com.

"These are two very nice honors for Heather," head coach Derrek Falor said. "They speak highly of the respect that she has received because of the hard work and effort that she gave on the field. I look forward to working with her this spring so that we can show continued improvement during the 2005 season.

"Heather was undoubtedly our leader on the field this year. Despite beginning the year with no collegiate playing experience, she gradually became one of the strongest midfielders in the conference. It will be interesting to watch her to continue to grow and develop over the next three years," Falor added.

Clapacs, a freshman from Willoughby, Ohio, was named to both the All-Horizon League second team and the Horizon League All-Newcomer squad last fall after starting all 20 games in the midfield. She led the team with 43 shots and 20 shots on goal, scoring one goal.
