CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State outshot Ohio Dominican, 25-4, but could only muster a 1-1 draw in an exhibition match on Thursday night at Krenzler Field.
"This was a good experience for us," head coach Derrek Falor said. "We had several good opportunities, but just couldn't finish. Coming back to get the tying goal late will only fire up the team as we prepare for Sunday."
ODU got on the board first when Jen Burgei took a pass from Jill Davis in the box and beat CSU keeper Shannon Saunders to the near post 32 minutes into the match.
It stayed that way until the 77:23 mark when freshman Marina Taylor played a free kick in from 30 yards that Jordan King headed into the back of the net for the tying goal.
In addition to outshooting the Panthers, CSU also had more corner kicks, (9-4).
Saunders made one save for the Vikings, while ODU goalkeeper Becky Williams made eight.
The Vikings will be back in action on Sunday (Aug. 17) when CSU hosts Kent
