Cleveland State University Announces Leadership Change in Women’s Soccer

After nearly two decades of service to Cleveland State University Athletics, Women's Soccer Head Coach Dallas Boyer will depart the program.

"Dallas is as good of a person as there is in college athletics. We thank him for his seventeen years of service to CSU and the transformational impact he has had on the hundreds of student-athletes he has mentored during his time here," said Vice President & Director of Athletics Scott Garrett.

Boyer served as an assistant coach for the Vikings from 2007 to 2016 and was named the third head coach in program history in 2017.  His career record ended at 49-55-14 and was highlighted by a run to the 2018 Horizon League championship game.  Boyer finished with a Horizon League record of 31-29-8 over his seven seasons, and his teams included seven academic all-conference honorees, 15 all-league performers and one Freshman of the Year award winner in 2021.

"I am so proud of what we have accomplished in moving CSU women's soccer forward through the efforts of all the incredible coaches, staff, and fantastic student-athletes that I have enjoyed working alongside for the last seventeen years," said Boyer. "The program is in a healthy place full of talented and committed individuals, and I can't wait to see how it will continue to improve.  I have been a proud Viking for almost two decades and will continue to support as strongly as ever in this next chapter of my life away from the sidelines."

Boyer's teams were strong in the classroom throughout his tenure as well.  This past year, the team posted a 3.73 cumulative GPA, which was tied for the highest mark of any team across CSU Athletics.

Garrett will conduct a national search for a permanent replacement.  Associate Head Coach Carl Contrascier will oversee the day-to-day activities of the program until the new head coach is appointed.
