Cleveland State Women's Soccer Downed by Detroit, 3-1

DETROIT, Mich. – The Green and White (3-10-3, 0-6-3) dropped is final regular season road game on Sunday to Detroit (6-7-3, 4-4-0) by a score of 3-1.

Cleveland State wasted no time finding the back of the net as Payton Koebbe finished off an excellent cross from Emma Pompo to lead 1-0. Detroit equalized in the 36th minute after Karsen Murray converted a penalty kick.

The score remained even at the intermission with the Vikings holding a 5-4 edge in shots.

The Titans claimed a 2-1 advantage in the 65th minute after Sophia Blankenship volleyed in a cross off a give-and-go from Gabby Ketola and Abbey Londato. Abbey Lodato made it 3-1 as she scored a 25-yard free kick.

Cleveland State held an 11-8 advantage in shots including a 5-3 edge in shots on goal. Each team had four corner kicks. Olivia Cruz, Rylee Bussen, Koebbe, and Pompo finished with two shots apiece.

The Vikings conclude the regular season at home on Saturday, Oct. 21 against Wright State at 7 p.m. The contest is also Alumni Day.
