Cleveland State Women's Soccer Stunned by Oakland, 1-0

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State (3-7-1, 0-3-1) suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to Oakland (3-4-4, 1-0-2) on Sunday afternoon.

The opening half was a stalemate, with the Golden Grizzlies holding a 4-3 edge in the shots category.

Oakland notched the only goal in the 88th minute when Allie Tefend blasted a shot into the upper left corner, following a missed clearance on a corner kick.

The best scoring chance for the Green and White came in the 76th minute, as Rylee Bussen's shot hit the crossbar and went out of play.

The Vikings held an 11-10 advantage in shots and had five shots on frame. Cleveland State also had seven corners in the game.

Brooke Opferman, Kathryn Ramicone, and Bussen finished with two shots apiece. Liv Fain recorded four saves in goal.

Cleveland State will hit the road on Saturday, September 30 for a 2 p.m. game at Green Bay.
