Cleveland State Women's Soccer Draws With IUPUI, 2-2

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Cleveland State (3-5-1, 0-1-1) used two second-half goals to tie IUPUI (6-2-2, 0-1-1) on Sunday afternoon, 2-2.

IUPUI obtained the first goal in the 18th minute as Caroline Kelly scored off a pair of assists from Emma Antoine and Emily Tobin. The Jaguars made it 2-0 in the 35th minute as Cassie Rodriguez found the back of the net off a pass from Abbey Renner.

Cleveland State went into the half trailing 2-0 despite holding an 11-5 advantage in shots.

The Vikings got on the board in the 53rd minute when Erica Leinweber finished off a pass from Emma Pompo to trail 2-1. Ten minutes later, Rylee Bussen tied the game with a goal off a free kick from Kathryn Ramicone.

The Green and White held a 19-12 edge in shots and a 9-4 advantage in shots on goal. The Vikings also took five corners compared to three for the Jaguars.

Ramicone led the Vikings with four shots including two on frame. Mayra Sesmas and Leinweber each fired off three shots. Liv Fain made two saves in goal.

Cleveland State remains on the road to battle Purdue Fort Wayne on Thursday, September 21 at 7 p.m.
