Opening Whistle
Cleveland State begins Horizon League play tomorrow evening against the reigning #HLWSOC champions, Milwaukee, at 5 p.m. on Krenzler Field.

Non-Conference Recap
The Vikings concluded non-league play with a 4-1 victory over Saint Francis, putting themselves at 3-4-0. Of those games, the Green and White were 1-2 at home and 2-2 on the road.

Last Game Out
Cleveland State recognized their five seniors last week while seeing fifth-year player, Lina Feltovich, record her first collegiate goal. Emma Pompo and Erica Leinweber also found the back of the net in the game.

About Milwaukee
The Panthers will also be playing their first HL game of the year and are sitting at 3-2-2 on the season. UWM is coming off a 1-0 setback against Marquette at home on Thursday. Kayla Rollins leads the offense with three goals, while Senya Meurer and Elizabeth Reece have two assists apiece. Kendall Edwards has started every game in goal, collecting 25 saves and two shutouts.

The Green and White have never beat the Panthers and are 0-23-1 all-time. Last season, the Vikings nearly drew with Milwaukee before conceding in the 83rd minute. The lone draw came in 2014.

Kathryn Ramicone enters her final season with 15 career goals, five back of becoming the all-time leading scorer in program history. Maddie Young, also in her final season, has 11 career tallies.

Ramicone is third with 39 points and Young is ninth with 29 points, both behind the leader, Natalie Daniels with 57 points.

Key Returners
The Vikings return all three Horizon League award winners from last season: Kathryn Ramicone and Rylee Bussen earned Second Team honors, and Eleanor Simkonis on the All-Freshman team.

A Look Back at Last Season
Cleveland State finished 2022 with a 7-6-4 overall record and a 4-4-2 Horizon League record. The Green and White went unbeaten in their final three games and will look to continue that momentum into the new season.

Preseason Poll
The Cleveland State women's soccer team has been chosen to finish fifth in the Horizon League for the 2023 season, as voted on by the league coaches.

Milwaukee took the No. 1 spot after receiving 10 first-place votes for 120 points. Oakland was second with 93 points, and Purdue Fort Wayne was third with 85 points. Youngstown State snagged the fourth spot after receiving a first-place vote for 84 points. The Vikings slotted into the fifth spot with 73 total points, two spots higher than where they finished a season ago.
