Cleveland State Women's Soccer Downed by MTSU

Murfreesboro, Tenn – The Vikings (2-4-0) ended their trip to Nashville with a 3-0 setback against Middle Tennessee (3-2-1) on Sunday afternoon.

The Blue Raiders opened the scoring in the 20th minute after Idun Kvaale ripped a shot into the upper left corner from just inside the box.

Each team took seven shots in the first half with MTSU leading 1-0 at the break.

Middle Tennessee doubled their lead in the 79th minute when Manon Lebargy finished off a shot following a flick-on from Elizabeth Slavinsky off a long free kick. Two minutes later, the home team sealed the 3-0 victory as Slavinsky headed in a corner by Olivia Ouzounidis.

The Vikings were outshot 16-10 in the contest but held a 5-3 shots on goal advantage. Maddie Young led the way with three shots while McKenna Donahue had two. Liv Fain had five saves on the afternoon.

Cleveland State returns home on Thursday, September 7 for Senior Night against Saint Francis at 6 p.m.
