Cleveland State Women's Soccer Downed at Ohio, 1-0

ATHENS, Ohio – Cleveland State (1-2) fell on the road to Ohio University (2-0) by a final score of 1-0.

The first half went scoreless, with Ohio holding a 9-3 advantage in shots. Kathryn Ramicone put the lone shot on goal for the Vikings in the 20th minute.

Grace Krosky nearly put the Vikings on the board first in the 54th minute, but her shot from 35 yards out went off the left post.

Ohio broke through in the 78th minute as Izzi Boyd fired a shot into the upper left corner from the top of the box following a scramble off a huge save by Liv Fain.

 The Vikings almost equalized in the 86th minute after Mayra Sesmas shot from 30 yards out was punched over the bar.

The Bobcats outshot the Vikings 18-8 in the contest, but only 4-3 in shots on goal.

Sesmas led the game with three shots including one on frame. Liv Fain made three saves in the contest.

The Green and White return home on Sunday, Aug. 27 against Kent State at 1 p.m. on Krenzler Field.
