Cleveland State Women's Soccer Selected Fifth in Preseason Poll

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Cleveland State women's soccer team has been chosen to finish fifth in the Horizon League for the 2023 season, as voted on by the league coaches.

Milwaukee took the No. 1 spot after receiving 10 first-place votes for 120 points. Oakland was second with 93 points, and Purdue Fort Wayne was third with 85 points. Youngstown State snagged the fourth spot after receiving a first-place vote for 84 points.

The Vikings slotted into the fifth spot with 73 total points, two spots higher than where they finished a season ago.

Cleveland State finished 2022 with a 7-6-4 overall record and a 4-4-2 Horizon League record. The Green and White went unbeaten in their final three games and will look to continue that momentum into the new season.

The Vikings return all three Horizon League award winners from last season: Kathryn Ramicone and Rylee Bussen earned Second Team honors, and Eleanor Simkonis on the All-Freshman team.

The Green and White open the season at home tomorrow evening against Akron at 7 p.m. on Krenzler Field.
