Cleveland State Women's Soccer Holds Off Youngstown State 4-2

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Vikings (6-6-3, 3-4-1) hung on for a 4-2 victory over Youngstown State (5-7-3, 3-3-2) on Sunday afternoon. The victory snapped a two-game skid and gave the Green and White their fourth home win of the year.

THE GAME
Cleveland State opened the scoring in the ninth minute on Maddie Young's fifth goal of the year as she finished off a through ball from Kathryn Ramicone. The Vikings extended the lead in the 33rd minute as Grace Krosky scored off a pass from Erica Leinweber.

Helena Novatsidis nailed the crossbar in the 40th minute before chipping the keeper in the 42nd minute off a through ball from Maria Bashardoust to lead 3-0 at halftime.

Youngstown State got on the board in the 51st minute as Mikayla Mustard curled in her corner kick. Eight minutes later, the Penguins pulled to within 3-2 on a goal from Regan LaVigna off a cross from Haley Curtis.

The Vikings were able to hold off the comeback as Ramicone converted a penalty kick in the 85th minute, winning 4-2.

Leinweber led the Green and White with three shots. Mollie McGuire earned the win after making two saves.
