Cleveland State Women's Soccer Drops Final Non-League Game at Canisius

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Cleveland State (3-2-2) wrapped up non-league play on Saturday afternoon with a 1- setback against Canisius (2-2-3). The Vikings will now turn their attention to league play which begins on Thursday at IUPUI.

THE GAME
The Vikings and Golden Griffins battled to a scoreless first half despite the home team holding an 8-2 edge in shots. The best chance for either team came in the 27th minute when Canisius nearly had a goal, but a Cleveland State defender cleared the ball off the line.

Canisius netted the lone goal of the game in the 66th minute as Tiana Fonoti blasted the ball into the back of the net from the top of the box off a pass from Emma Oliphant.

The Vikings nearly evened the game in the 85th minute as Kathryn Ramicone's free kick from 35-yards away went off the crossbar and out of play.

Canisius held a 13-5 advantage in shots during the game while both teams had six corner kicks apiece.

Grace Krosky had the lone shot on goal while Ramicone had a team-best two shots. Liv Fain took the loss in goal despite making three saves.
