Cleveland State Women's Soccer Cruises Past Saint Francis 4-1

LORETTO, Pa. – Cleveland State (2-1-2) rebounded from their first loss of the season with a 4-1 victory against Saint Francis (0-5-0) on Thursday afternoon.

THE GAME
The Vikings were the first on the board in the 38th minute as Erica Leinweber scored from the top of the box off a pass from Grace Krosky.

Cleveland State took the 1-0 advantage into halftime, outshooting the hosts, 3-2.

Madi Snyder extended the lead in the 53rd minute with a perfect header off a free kick from Lina Feltovich. The advantage grew to 3-0 in the 57th minute as Bella Ceepo's shot deflected off a Red Flash defender and into the back of the net for an own goal.

Saint Francis ended the shutout in the 79th minute with a converted penalty kick by Lauren Pyle to get within 3-1. However, the Vikings got the goal back in the 83rd minute as Leinweber took the ball away from a Red Flash player at midfield and used her speed to get down the field and sailed a shot over the keeper from inside the box.

The Green and White defense saw the game out as the Vikings won 4-1. Cleveland State held a slim 9-8 advantage in shots but had an 8-4 margin in shots on goal.

Leinweber led the game with all three of her shots going on frame. Kathryn Ramicone finished with two shots on goal. Mollie McGuire picked up the win in goal after making three saves.
