Cleveland State Women's Soccer Blanks Saint Joseph's for First Victory of the Year

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Cleveland State (1-0-2) picked up their first victory of the year on Thursday evening after defeating Saint Joseph's (0-3-0) by a final score of 5-0.

THE GAME
The Vikings struck quickly as Mayra Sesmas found the back of the net in the second minute off a pass from Maddie Young. Sesmas doubled the advantage in the 26th minute, scoring off a turnover in the box as the Vikings led 2-0.

Cleveland State kept the two-goal lead at the intermission, outshooting the home team 5-3.

The Green and White tacked on a third goal in the 70th minute as McKenna Donahue scored off a centering pass from Emma Pompo. A mere 29 seconds later, Young headed home the ball off a cross from Lina Feltovich to lead 4-0.

Courtney Coholich put the final touches on the 5-0 victory with her first year of the year off a centering pass from Tanji Sarver.

Saint Joseph's outshot the Vikings 11-9 but were unable to beat Mollie McGuire as the junior recorded her first career shutout.
