Opening Whistle
Cleveland State kicks off its 2022 campaign on Thursday, August 18 at 7 p.m. when they head to Kent State University. The Vikings will then host St. Bonaventure in their home opener on Sunday, August 21 at 1 p.m.

Run it Back
The Vikings and the Golden Flashes will again serve as each other's season openers with Kent State winning in Cleveland last season, 2-0.

About the Flashes
The Golden Flashes are coming off a 13-5-3 overall year, advancing to the MAC Tournament Championship game. Graduate senior Tianna Harris was recently named to the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Players to Watch List as a defender after earning MAC Defensive Player of the Year honors last season.

Series History
Kent State leads the all-time series 15-3-3 with the Green and White's last victory coming in 2017 on the road, 2-1. The most recent result in favor of CSU was a scoreless draw in 2019.

Preseason Poll
The Cleveland State women's soccer team was selected to finish fourth in the Horizon League Preseason Poll, as voted upon by league head coaches, the Horizon League announced on Wednesday.

Oakland topped the Horizon League poll with five first-place votes for 115 points, while reigning HL Champions, Milwaukee came in second with five first-place votes and 108 points.

2021 Season Summary
The Vikings are coming off a 6-11-2 overall and 5-5-1 league mark during the 2021 season. CSU went 3-0-1 over the final four contests of the regular season to earn a spot in the Horizon League tournament for the first time since 2019. During the stretch, the Vikings didn't allow a goal for 458 minutes, recording four straight shutouts.

Offensive Returners
Grace Krosky, Kathryn Ramicone, and Maddie Young are back after scoring two goals apiece last season. Young topped the team with six points on two assists to go along with her two tallies.

About the Schedule
CSU, which is playing its sixth season with head coach Dallas Boyer at the helm, will play a 17-game slate, with two exhibition contests at Buffalo (August 6) and home against Duquesne (August 13).
