Cleveland State Women's Soccer Earns United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The United Soccer Coaches recently announced its 2020-21 College Team Academic Award recipients, and the Cleveland State women's soccer team achieved this recognition after meeting the cumulative team grade-point average of at least the minimum 3.00.

The Vikings had a team GPA of 3.85 in the Spring 2021 semester and a cumulative team GPA of 3.76 after Spring 2021.

Of the active roster, 21 players made the Dean's List, 11 made the President's List, and nine players had a perfect 4.00 GPA.

Head Coach Dallas Boyer said, "I'm so proud of the genuine commitment to the student-athlete experience that our young women buy into semester after semester.  We keep asking them to try and raise the bar and improve upon our 3.76 team cumulative GPA, which is amazing on a roster of our size, yet they continue to do so. It starts with recruiting people who already place a priority on their academic performance, but then it's important to provide them with the level of guidance and personal attention that we are so lucky to receive from Winnie Lane, our team's Academic Advisor.  These players are putting in the work that will set them up soon for the ultimate goals in this program with acceptance to their desired graduate schools or first job opportunities in their professional fields."

A total of 641 soccer teams (237 men, 404 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2020-21 academic year.
