INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – Senior Essence Canady was selected to the All-Horizon League Second Team and Kyla Valaitis was named to the Horizon League All-Freshman Team, the league announced on Friday afternoon.

ESSENCE CANADY | ALL-HORIZON LEAGUE SECOND TEAM
Canady started all 15 games that she appeared in before missing the season finale at Purdue Fort Wayne. The North Huntingdon, Pa. native, helped Cleveland State rattle off three straight shutouts at the end of the season.

Canady earned All-Horizon League honors for the first time in her five-year career with the Vikings. She has appeared in 65 games, drawing 63 starts with six goals and two assists. During her sophomore season, Canada earned a spot on the Horizon League All-Tournament team.

KYLA VALAITIS | ALL-HORIZON LEAGUE FRESHMAN TEAM
Valaitis was named to the All-Freshman squad as a goalkeeper. The Springsboro, Ohio native, started 12 games in net, boasting a 4-6-2 record. Valaitis registered 51 saves and four shutouts. She ended the regular season with four consecutive clean sheets.

The Vikings earned the No. 5 seed in the 2021 Horizon League Tournament. The Vikings will head to fourth-seeded, Green Bay on Sunday, Oct. 31 at 2 p.m. for the quarterfinal matchup.
