Cleveland State Earns No. 5 Seed, Travels to Green Bay for HL Tournament Quarterfinals on Sunday

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State ended the regular season with four consecutive shutouts to earn the No. 5 seed in the 2021 Horizon League Tournament. The Vikings will head to fourth-seeded, Green Bay on Sunday, Oct. 31 at 2 p.m. for the quarterfinal matchup.

The winner of Sunday's contest will advance to tournament host Milwaukee for the semifinals and championship on Thursday, Nov. 4, and Saturday, Nov. 6. The Green and White will face either Milwaukee or Oakland depending on the outcome of the other quarterfinal game.

The Vikings fell to the Phoenix 1-0 in their regular-season matchup on October 10th in Cleveland. Green Bay netted the lone goal off a free kick just 37 seconds into the contest. Each team finished the contest with nine shots and three shots on goal. Cleveland State had ten corners compared to zero for the visitors.

Cleveland State is returning to the HL postseason for the first time since 2018 when they advanced to the championship game, falling to Milwaukee, 1-0.
