Cleveland State Women's Soccer has Three Named to Horizon League All-Academic Team

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – Cleveland State women's soccer players, Maddie Young, Kathryn Ramicone, and Lina Feltovich have been named to the 2021 Horizon League Women's Soccer All-Academic Team, the League announced Tuesday afternoon.

Young, majoring in health science, pre-physician assistant, carries a 3.94 GPA. The sophomore was named to the Cleveland State 2020 Fall Semester President's List. Last season, she garnered First Team All-Horizon League honors. The Cincinnati, Ohio native has started all 15 games this season, scoring two goals and adding two assists.

Head Coach Dallas Boyer said, "Maddie has been an absolute professional since joining us last year with an obvious daily commitment to performing her best, both on the field and in the classroom. She's never going to shy away from working, however hard she needs, in order to keep getting better and reaching all her goals. It's a real pleasure to watch and work with someone that brings that approach to the group every day."

Ramicone, majoring in health science, pre-physical therapy, boasts a 4.00 GPA. The sophomore was named to the Dean's List in the fall 2020 and President's List during the spring. The reigning Horizon League Freshman of the Year has played in 11 games with two starts. Ramicone has tallied two goals and an assist.

Boyer said, "Kat has battled thru some injuries this fall, but her toughness and commitment to the team are impressive. She has been an exemplary student-athlete in her short time here by setting high standards for herself which will help us improve on the field and continue crushing it in the classroom as she works towards the goals, she has for herself and this team."

Feltovich earns Horizon League All-Academic honors for a second consecutive season. The junior has been named to the President's List in every semester of her career. She is one of four Vikings with a perfect 4.00 GPA. Feltovich has started all 15 games on defense this year. The Stow, Ohio native registered her lone assist of the year against Wright State on Oct. 2.

Boyer said, "Lina is absolutely one of the most reliable and consistent student-athletes anywhere. It is great to see a defender rewarded like this because, without obvious stats, it's often wrongly overlooked. While her steadying presence is obvious to us on the field, her academic approach and performance match that as well. We will never need to ask more of Lina because her own standards are already pushing her to get there."

The Horizon League recognizes student-athletes with seasonal Academic All-League Teams in each of its 19 championship sports. To be eligible for Horizon League All-Academic consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale), have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits, and be a starter or key reserve.
