SETTING THE SCENE
The Cleveland State women's soccer team looks to #DefendKrenzler on Thursday evening against UIC with a 6 p.m. kick off before hitting the road for a contest against Youngstown State. The Vikings have four games left in the regular season, with two at home and two on the road.

SCOUTING THE FLAMES
Whichever team can net a goal first will have a huge leg up.  The Flames have scored five goals in conference play; the Vikings just four.  UIC will turn to Kaitlyn Montague and Megan Bowman to ignite their offense.  Both players are tied for the team lead with two goals apiece.  Cleveland State, riding a five-match losing streak, relies on Maddie Young in the offensive end. Bowman scored a goal in UIC's 3-0 win over Cleveland State in 2019.  That was the last time the teams have met.  The win at Flames Field gave UIC a 4-2 lead in the all-time series.

ALL-TIME MEETING BETWEEN CLEVELAND STATE AND UIC
The Vikes hold an all-time record of 2-4-0 against the Flames. These two teams didn't meet during the shortened spring season, as the last time they met was in 2019 with the Green and White suffering a 0-3 defeat.

ALL-TIME MEETING BETWEEN CLEVELAND STATE AND YOUNGSTOWN STATE
Cleveland State holds the advantage all-time over Youngstown State, 11-6-1. CSU took down YSU inside the Krenzler Field Bubble during the spring season, 3-2.

THE LAST TIME OUT
The Vikings suffered a 1-0 setback to the University of Green Bay on Sunday afternoon at Krenzler Field. Cleveland State honored their alumni during the halftime break. Green Bay started quickly, scoring 32 seconds into the contest as Savanna Hayes touched in a 25-yard free-kick by Sarah Teubner. The Vikings best chance of the half came in the 44th minute as Rylee Bussen's header on a corner went just high of the bar.

THE 2021 SCHEDULE
Cleveland State will play in a "normal" 20-match fall schedule. The Vikings will face off against all 11 #HLWSOC opponents throughout the course of the season, with six home matches and five road contests. Boyer's squad will open league play on Thursday, Sept. 16 versus IUPUI at 6 p.m. at Krenzler Field.
