Cleveland State Women's Soccer Falls on Alumni Day

Cleveland, Ohio – The Vikings suffered a 1-0 setback to the University of Green Bay on Sunday afternoon at Krenzler Field. Cleveland State honored their alumni during the halftime break.

THE GAME
Green Bay started quickly, scoring 32 seconds into the contest as Savanna Hayes touched in a 25-yard free-kick by Sarah Teubner. The Vikings best chance of the half came in the 44th minute as Rylee Bussen's header on a corner went just high of the bar.

Cleveland State trailed 1-0 at the intermission with each team registering three shots on goal. The Green and White took nine corners in the half.

The Phoenix nearly extended their lead in the 74th minute, but McKayla Kertscher's shot went off the right post and was cleared out of danger by the Vikings defense. Neither team managed to find the back of the net down the stretch with the Vikings falling at home, 1-0.

Each team finished the contest with nine shots and three shots on goal. Cleveland State had ten corners compared to zero for the visitors.

Kyla Valaitis made two saves in goal for the Vikings. Ja'Maya Ward and Bussen fired off two shots apiece.

Cleveland State will take on UIC on Thursday, Oct. 14 at 6 p.m. on Krenzler Field.
