Cleveland State Women's Soccer Drops #HLWSOC Match at Oakland

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Cleveland State women's soccer team dropped its Thursday evening contest to Oakland 3-1. Cleveland State will play three of its final five contests of the 2021 season at the friendly confines of Krenzler Field.

THE GAME
Although the Golden Grizzlies tallied 11 shots in the opening 45 minutes, the score was tied heading into the break 0-0.

Grace Krosky put the Vikings on the board first, peppering the back of the net in the 51st minute off of a Rylee Bussen assist. It was Krosky's first goal of the fall campaign, as well as Bussen's first assist.

Oakland retaliated eight minutes later, as Ashley Postma scored for the Golden Grizzlies, tying the game at 1-1 at the 59 minute mark.

The Golden Grizzlies tacked on two more goals at the 79th and 86th minute, securing a 3-1 victory.

Cleveland State recorded six shots on the day, with six separate players tallying a shot, and committed four fouls. Kyla Valaitis saw 13 shots on goal during the match, recording 10 saves.

UP NEXT
The Green and White will face off against Green Bay on Sunday, Oct. 10 at 1 p.m. Cleveland State will welcome alumni back to Krenzler Field at Sunday's matinee match. Following that contest, the Vikings will take on UIC on Thursday, Oct. 14 at 6 p.m.
