Cleveland State Women's Soccer Drops Sunday Match at Northern Kentucky

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Kentucky - The Cleveland State women's soccer team dropped a #HLWSOC contest at Northern Kentucky on Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Vikes now hold a 2-2-0 record in league play.

THE GAME
The first half was evenly matched, as Cleveland State recorded four shots to Northern Kentucky's six; however, two of those shots were on goal, while only one Norse shot was on goal.

At the intermission of Sunday's matinee match, the score was tied 0-0.

Sofia Wilmes scored the game's only goal for Northern Kentucky five minutes into the second half.

The Norse would maintain the pace throughout the final 40 minutes, not allowing a Cleveland State goal.

The Green and White recorded seven shots on the day, including four on goal. Grace Grant recorded three shots, two on goal, while Essence Canady, Kathryn Ramicone, Bella Ceepo and Ja'Maya Ward each tallied a shot.

Kyla Valaitis recorded the loss, seeing five shots on goal, recording four saves.

Cleveland State committed seven fouls to Northern Kentucky's eight.

UP NEXT
The Vikings will have a six-day rest, as they won't be back in action until Saturday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. as Wright State comes to town. Of Cleveland State's remaining seven matches on the year, four of them are at home, including a two-match homestand against Green Bay (Sunday, Oct. 10) and UIC (Thursday, Oct. 14).
