SETTING THE SCENE
The Cleveland State women's soccer team looks to extend their winning ways on Thursday and Saturday, as the Green and White take on two #HLWSOC opponents. The Vikings, winners of their last two matches, enter Thursday night with an overall record of 3-5-1 (2-0-0).

SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
Milwaukee is a near-perfect 21-0-1 all-time against the Vikings (10-0 on the road), with the only draw coming in a 1-1 decision in the 2014 campaign. The team is on a seven-game winning streak in the matchup, including four by shutout and a combined goal differential of 20-3 in that stretch. Jelena Sever scored both goals to lead MKE to a 2-1 win in 2020 at the Krenzler Bubble.

SCOUTING THE NORSE
NKU is 4-3-2 on the season, and 3-0-2 in its last five matches, after downing both Detroit Mercy and UIC to continue Horizon League play. NKU's nonconference schedule was brutally tough. All but two of its nonconference opponents have a .500 record or better and are a combined 28-17-12 (.622) through Sept. 21. NKU is unbeaten in its last five matches with a 3-0-2 record. Opponents have scored just twice in those games as the Norse have posted three shutouts. NKU currently sits in a tie for first in the Horizon League, as Milwaukee and Cleveland State are both 2-0 in conference action. IUPUI enters the week at fifth overall in the conference also.NKU was picked to finish second in the Horizon League Preseason Poll.

THE LAST TIME OUT
The Cleveland State women's soccer team continued Horizon League play with a 2-1 overtime win against Detroit Mercy on Sunday afternoon at Titan Field. The Green and White are now 3-5-1 on the year and will next face Milwaukee on Thursday. The 0-0 tie continued until an 89th minute clutch goal from CSU's Maia Ransom giving the Vikings a 1-0 lead. Ransom was assisted by Ja'Maya Ward and Kathryn Ramicone, each earning their first assists of the season. Cleveland State's lead only lasted 56 seconds, as Detroit Mercy's Hailey Wentzloff evened the score with a penalty kick goal at the 89:02 mark, sending the match to overtime. Midway through the first overtime period, Maddie Young scored the golden goal for the Green and White to seal the victory. Ja'Maya Ward recorded her second assist of the game on the play. Cleveland State posted 5 shots and 2 shots on goal in their first overtime win of the season. Freshman goalkeeper Kyla Valaitis saved 3 of 4 shots on goal in the match.
