Cleveland State Women's Soccer Drops Contest At Niagara

NIAGARA, New York – The Cleveland State women's soccer team dropped its Sunday afternoon contest at Niagara, 3-0. The Green and White now hold a 1-3-1 record with just two non-conference games remaining before #HLWSOC play begins.

THE GAME
The Purple Eagles jumped on the board early in Sunday's matinee match, netting the first score at the 1:43 mark.

After the first 45 minutes of action, Niagara held a slim 1-0 lead.

The Purple Eagles tallied their second goal of the game at the 52:36 mark of the second half. Niagara tacked on its final score of the game 16 minutes later, as Nia MacLean scored for the Purple Eagles.

Cleveland State recorded 12 shots on the day, including three on goal. Maia Ransom, Kathryn Ramicone, Christina Trickett, Grace Grant and Rylee Bussen each recorded two shots on the day. 

Mollie McGuire earned the start in goal, registering six saves. Miranda Thomas also saw action in the net, notching one save in eight minutes.

UP NEXT
The Green and White will head to Akron on Thursday to face off against the Zips, as their previous meeting (Aug. 29) was postponed due to weather. Thursday's match will be the 12th meeting all-time between these two Northeast Ohio programs. In their last meeting, Cleveland State took a 2-1 2OT victory on August 25 behind a golden goal from Elena Gutlove in the 107th minute.
