Cleveland State Women's Soccer Ties Miami in Thursday Evening Contest

CLEVELAND – The Cleveland State women's soccer team tied its Thursday evening match against MAC foe Miami, 2-2. The all-time series record remains tied between these two programs 1-1-1.

THE GAME
110 minutes wouldn't be enough to decide Thursday's under-the-lights match. The Redhawks jumped on the board first as Desiree Grubbs scored at the 27:05 mark of the first half.

With just minutes to go until halftime, Kathryn Ramicone peppered the back of the net, assisted by McKenna Donahue. The goal marked Ramicone's third score on the season.

Heading into the break, Cleveland State and Miami were tied 1-1.

Much like the first 45 minutes, the Redhawks tallied the first score of the second half as Kylee Beinecke netted the goal. The Green and White responded less than a minute later, as Maddie Young found the back of the net at the 70:59 mark, assisted by Donahue, her second on the evening. Thursday's contest marked Donahue's first-ever two assist outing.

After 90 minutes, plus two overtime periods, the match would end in a 2-2 tie.

Cleveland State registered 14 shots on the evening, including two in the overtime periods, while Kyla Valaitis recorded four saves on six shots.

Christina Trickett led the Vikings with four shots, including the final shot of the night sailing just high.
