Vikings Announce Addition of Trickett to Roster

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State Women's Soccer Head Coach Dallas Boyer announced today the addition of center midfielder Christina Trickett to the team's 2020 roster. Trickett, a native of Independence, Ohio, joins the Vikings as a transfer from the University of Central Florida.

"The tradition of some of the best players in Cleveland coming home to play is very much alive and well with Christina's decision to become a Viking," said Boyer. "From her experiences attending USA Youth National Team events, to playing significant minutes for one of the best teams in the country, she brings a unique resume with her into our group."

Trickett appeared in 14 games as a redshirt sophomore for UCF, tallying her first career assist in a 5-0 win against Houston on Nov. 3, 2019. The center midfielder saw action in 14 games as a freshman in 2016, playing in 305 minutes throughout the campaign. A 2017 American Athletic Conference Champion, Trickett was one of only 31 UCF student-athletes to appear on the President's Honor Roll (4.0 GPA) for Fall 2016, and was a member of the American Athletic All-Athletic Team.

"Christina is a fantastic fit in our style of play as a very versatile attacking personality with excellent technical ability," stated Boyer. "Depending on the formations that we choose to move forward with for this group, she can have a lot of success out wide in space, play making underneath forwards as an attacking central midfielder, or leading the attack as a forward.  In any role, we will certainly look to give her some freedom on where to find a variety of opportunities to create chances for us.  Every other attacking player on the field will become that much more individually dangerous themselves as well as a result of incorporating her into our attack."

A 2013 graduate of Walsh Jesuit High School, Trickett was a member of the 2013 Division I OHSAA state championship team, as well as the 2012 Division II OHSAA state championship team. The Independence, Ohio, native was a U19 U.S. Women's National Team Camp attendee in 2019 and in 2011, she was a U.S. Soccer Training Center attendee.

"As good of a player as we know Christina is, she's every bit as good of a person," Boyer said. "Her level of engagement and connection have already been fantastic. Having this opportunity to provide her the chance to finish her career on the field with the Cleveland skyline as her backdrop and family and friends consistently in the stands to support her is going to be a lot of fun."

Trickett's father, Paul, is a business manager, while her mother, Kimberly, is a doctor. The newest member of the Vikings has two brothers, Matthew and Nathan, and one sister, Antonia.
