CLEVELAND -- Despite holding a 20-6 advantage in shots, Cleveland State could not find the back of the net and dropped a 1-0 decision to Youngstown State in a Horizon League match on Wednesday on Krenzler Field.

The Vikings peppered the Penguins goal, but could not push one past Kate McEachern who made seven saves in goal for Youngstown State to earn the shutout.

Youngstown State, which improved to 3-8-1 overall and 1-2-0 in Horizon League play, took the lead at the 27:06 mark of the opening period when Addie Roman took a feed from Regan LaVigna and headed it past Stevie Holbrook giving the Penguins a lead they would never relinquish.

Cleveland State, which fell to 3-6-2 overall and 1-2-0 in league play, nearly tied the match later in the first period when Grace Grant curled in a shot that hit the post to keep the Vikings scoreless.

Grant and Essence Canady each had five shot to lead Cleveland State, while Grace Krosky had four shots. Elena Gutlove finished with three shots, while Toni Dickson registered a pair of shots.

Holbrook finished with four saves in her 90 minutes of work in the goal for Cleveland State.
