Sowinski Tabbed Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State junior Dani Sowinski (Oconomowoc, Wis.) has been named the Horizon League Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week following her performance in Saturday's 4-2 win over Oakland.

Sowinski scored three goals in the win, becoming just the fourth player in program history to record a hat trick and the first since Amanda Sivic tallied three goals at Chicago State on Aug. 31, 2014. Jamie Avona and Ashley Walchack are the other players to score three goals in a game for the Vikings.

Sowinski gave the Vikings an early 1-0 lead with a goal in the eighth minute and added her second tally in the 38th minute to give CSU a 3-1 halftime lead. In the 68th minute, Sowinski was taken down in the box and scored on a penalty kick.

She ranks second on the team in goals (3) and points (7) this year.

Sowinski and the Vikings return to action on Wednesday (Sept. 27) with a 7:00 pm match against Youngstown State at Krenzler Field.
