Boyer Announces Addition of Three More Student-Athletes to Program

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State head women's soccer coach Dallas Boyer has announced the addition of three more student-athletes to the program. The trio will join the program this year and have four seasons of eligibility.

Joining the Vikings will be Grace Grant (Copley, Ohio), Jordan Hindmarsh (Norton, Ohio) and Erin Stevens (Harrison, Ohio).

"We are excited to add three more players to an already excellent group of incoming freshmen," Boyer said. "The addition of three more players from the state of Ohio continues to support our mission of making Cleveland State women's soccer a destination that the best players in the area continue to strongly consider for what it can provide both on the field and in the classroom.

"Grace, Jordan, and Erin each join us after excellent careers playing at high levels with their club teams and with some impressive individual accomplishments as leaders of championship teams, All-Ohio selections, and representing the United States. Their additions round out a freshman class and 2017 roster that we are very excited to get to work with and help develop this fall."

Grant was a four-year letterwinner at Copley HS, helping the team to 40 wins and two league titles during her career. She helped the program to a pair of appearances in the district tournament and a regional semifinal appearance her junior year. A three-time all-league selection, Grant was a second team All-Ohio pick as a junior and senior.

Grant, whose father, Russ, played soccer at CSU from 1984-88, totaled 56 points during her career on 16 goals and 24 assists.

"I'm really excited to be able to add another local Cleveland-area player that has been competing at the ECNL level," Boyer said. "Grace comes from a house of Vikings as both of her parents are Cleveland State alums. Her combination of smooth athleticism and high technical skill level will be a great addition to our midfield on both sides of the ball. Coming from the excellent Internationals ECNL program will have her ready for the collegiate environment and level of play immediately."

Hindmarsh served as a central midfielder for four years at Norton HS, helping the team to a conference title her first season. A four-time all-conference selection, she earned first team honors three times and was the Player of the Year as a senior. A second team All-Ohio pick as a senior, Hindmarsh also earned all-district honors in each of her last two seasons.

She concluded her career with 25 goals and 36 assists.

"Jordan's technical skill level and dynamic movement on the ball shows immediately from her time competing internationally as a USA Futsal Team member," Boyer said. Her quick possession style of play fits perfectly in what we are trying to do. She's very clean in her first touch and is nearly impossible to dispossess as she manages her way comfortably through traffic and looks to make plays for others. She's recently made the jump to train and compete at a higher level of club play and that experience should pay off in her preparations to becoming a Viking soon."

Stevens lettered four times at Harrison HS, helping the team to a pair of league titles. A two-time team captain, she was selected to the all-district team and led the squad in assists.

"Erin is a physical, strong ball-winning central player whose presence is needed to balance out a midfield group," Boyer said. "She covers ground well, is very good in the air and is clean and efficient on the ball. She could really do well to grow into the role of protecting the space in front of the central defenders and linking up a back line to the attacking group thru possession."

Boyer and the Vikings will open preseason training for the 2017 season in early August.
