THE OPENING KICK:
    •    The Cleveland State women's soccer team travels to Detroit for a 1:00 pm match in the Vikings' lone contest this week.
    •    The match starts a stretch where CSU plays three of its final four matches of the season on the road.
    •    The Vikings are 4-9 overall and 1-4 in the Horizon League after falling 2-1 to UIC on Saturday night.
    •    Detroit is 7-6-1 overall and 3-1-1 in the Horizon League. After opening the season with a 2-5 mark, the Titans have gone 5-1-1 over their last seven matches.

RECAPPING LAST WEEK:
    •    The Vikings fell to UIC, 2-1, at Krenzler Field in their lone match of the week.
    •    Senior Kaila Sargema gave the Vikings a 1-0 lead with her team-leading fifth goal of the season at the 38:05 mark.
    •    However, UIC tied the contest at 1-1 just three minutes later and scored what proved to be the game-winning goal  just 2:40 into the second half.
    •     CSU out-shot the Flames, 13-9, and had an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal.

FREE KICKS:
    •    Senior Kaila Sargema is tops on the team with five goals and 10 points and is tied for eighth in the League in goals.
    •    Sargema led the team with six goals and 14 points last year and is attempting to become just the second player in school history to lead the team in goals and points in consecutive seasons (Vickie Havas; 2012-13).
    •    Sargema is second in CSU history with 17 career goals, three shy of tying Natalie Daniels (2008-11) for second place on the CSU all-time list.
    •    Sargema is also third in school history with 38 points.
    •    Junior Jamie Daniels is second in the Horizon League in saves (67) and third in shutouts (3).
    •    Daniels has made at least six saves in six matches this year.
    •    Daniels made a career-high 13 saves in the loss to Northern Kentucky on Oct. 1. It was the most saves in a game by a CSU goalkeeper since Allie Zajaros made 15 saves against Detroit on Oct. 8, 2004.
    •    Daniels, Sargema and Toni Dickson are the lone players to start all 13 matches this year.
    •    A total of 10 different players have appeared in every match this year (Katie Bainbridge, Maren Melnick, Stacie Morris, Briana Niedermeier, Marissa Sarsfield, Ashley Thiss, McKenna Vento).

UP NEXT:
    •    The Vikings return to action next Wednesday (Oct. 19) with a 7:00 pm match at Youngstown State.
    •    CSU will also host Green Bay on Saturday (Oct. 22) at 1:00 pm in the final home match of the regular season. It will be Senior Day with CSU's six seniors - Megan Barrick, Sarah Kaiser, Jane Piontowski, Kaila Sargema, Marissa Sarsfield and Haleigh Shingary being honored in a pre-match ceremony.
