Cleveland State Women’s Golf Seventh After First Round of Horizon League Championship

Howey in the Hills, FL-The Cleveland State women's golf team sits in seventh place after the opening round of the Horizon League Championship. The Vikings posted a 38-over 330 in the opening round and trail first-place Oakland by 25 shots.

Olivia Swain sits in the top 10 in the individual standings after an opening round 6-over 79. Swain bookended her round with birdies as she posted a birdie at the tenth hole, her first of the day, and closed with a birdie at the ninth hole after sticking her wedge shot to close range to finish her round. Swain is tied for ninth, six shots back of Oakland's Bridget Boczar.

Mandie Ruminski is tied for 21st place after a 9-over par round of 82. Ruminski carded a birdie on the 17th hole which helped her to a 1-over score of 38 on the back nine. 

Kaitlin Kormuth posted an 84, Brynna Mardis carded an 85, and Lola Barnett finished with an 86 in the opening round. Kormuth is tied for 28th, Mardis is tied for 30th and Barnett sits tied for 33rd in the individual standings. 

The Vikings will tee off in the morning wave tomorrow after playing the afternoon round on day one. Tee times begin at 7:30 a.m. off the first tee.
