Cleveland State Women’s Golf Tied for Seventh After Opening Round of Nevel Meade Collegiate

Prospect, KY-The Cleveland State women's golf team persevered through tough playing conditions on Monday in posting a 40-over par 328 to sit tied for seventh after the opening round of the Nevel Meade Collegiate. The tournament is hosted by Cleveland State at Nevel Meade Golf Club.

Temperatures were frigid on Monday with wind chills hovering between 25 and 27 degrees throughout the opening round.

Lola Barnett posted the low round of the day for the Vikings, a 7-over 79. Barnett shot a 39 on the front and a 40 on the back which included a birdie on the 16th hole, her fourth to last of the day. Barnett is tied for 14th individually through 18 holes. 

Olivia Swain is tied for 17th after carding an 8-over 80 on day one. Swain carded three birdies on the day including two on the back nine in posting a 3-over 39. 

Kaitlin Kormuth finished close behind as well posting a 9-over 81 to sit tied for 22nd through the first round.

Brynna Mardis is tied for 53rd after an opening round 88 and Kaylin Kline is tied for 59th after posting a 91. Abby Blackburn, playing as an individual, posted a 14-over 86 in the opening round. 

Round two gets underway tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. with a shotgun start. Fans can follow live scoring on Golfstat throughout the day.
