Cleveland State Women’s Golf Tied for Seventh after Two Rounds at Shirley Spork EMU Invitational

Ypsilanti, MI-The Cleveland State women's golf team sits tied for seventh after 36 holes at the Shirley Spork EMU Invitational hosted at Eastern Michigan's Eagle Crest Golf Course. The Vikings sit at 32-over par through two rounds, tied with Akron for seventh place. Oakland and Bowling Green are tied at the top of the standings at 3-over par.

Brynna Mardis led the way for the Vikings, finishing in the top-10 by posting a 3-over par total. Mardis started strong posting a 1-under 71 in the opening round and followed with a 4-over 76 in round two. In the opening round, she made four birdies, two on each side, against three bogeys to post the only Viking score in red figures on Monday.

Kaitlin Kormuth and Mandie Ruminski are tied for 20th at 7-over par. Kormuth carded rounds of 76-75 for a 151 total. She got off to a slow start but caught fire on the back nine to start the second round. Kormuth carded three birdies in a six-hole stretch to post 2-under 34 on the back nine in the second round. Ruminski shot 74-77, and also posted a 2-under nine-hole score on the front nine in the first round. She posted four birdies in a seven-hole stretch leading to a 34 on the front side.

Lola Barnett and Olivia Swain are each tied for 58th at 19-over par. Abby Blackburn, making her first start of the season, is 68th at 24-over par.
