Cleveland State Women’s Golf Cards Historic Final Round at Brittany Kelly Cardinal Classic

Yorktown, IN-The Cleveland State women's golf team posted one of its best rounds in women's program history on Tuesday to close out the season-opening Brittany Kelly Cardinal Classic at The Players Club in Yorktown, IN. The Vikings carded a 7-over par 295 which was good for the second-highest single round total in the history of the program. The score was three shots shy of the lowest single round, which also came in this event in 2017. Cleveland State finished tied for eighth overall at 51-over par for the tournament. 

Mandie Ruminski recorded a T-11 finish after carding a 2-over par 74 in the final round. Ruminski recorded five birdies in her final round, bringing her total to 11 for the tournament, the third-most of any player in the field. Ruminski finished at 7-over par over the 54-hole event. 

Brynna Mardis also recorded a top-15 finish, closing at 10-over par. Mardis carded a 1-over 73 in the final round, which tied for the lowest score of any Cleveland State player on the final day. She recorded three birdies, two of which came on the back nine leading to a 1-under 35 on the second nine. 

Olivia Swain also posted a 1-over 73, her lowest round of the tournament. Swain recorded five birdies and finished the tournament at 16-over par in a tie for 41st place. 

Two Cleveland State freshmen had strong showings in their collegiate debut, as each carded their lowest score of the week in the final round. Kaitlin Kormuth finished with a 3-over 75 which included two birdies. Kormuth finished the tournament at 19-over par in a tie for 53rd place. Lola Barnett closed with a 6-over 78 which also included two birdies. Barnett finished her first event in the green and white at 24-over par in a tie for 62nd place. 

The Vikings are in action again this weekend, traveling to Youngstown, OH for the Roseann Schwartz Invitational. The tournament is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, September 23-24.
