Sabrina Coffman Named #HLGolf Women’s Player of the Year

Cleveland, OH-Sabrina Coffman has been named the 2023 Women's Horizon League Golfer of the Year, the league office announced today.

Coffman had a standout season in 2022-23 culminating in a Horizon League individual championship this past week at Mission Inn Resort. Her season is not yet finished, as her win earned her an automatic bid to NCAA Regionals, where she will compete in Westfield, Indiana the first week of May.

Coffman concludes the regular season with a 76.3 scoring average. She has four top-5 finishes including two tournament wins and two runner-up finishes. She has finished in the top five in three of her last four events.

She won the EKU Colonel Classic in early April to kick off the run. She finished tied for first at the IUPUI Lady Jaguar Invitational, falling in a playoff to teammate Brynna Mardis

The run culminated this past week with a three-shot victory at the Horizon League Championship. Coffman carded rounds of 74-73-73 to win the first ever Horizon League individual championship in the history of the Cleveland State women's golf program.

This is the first postseason player of the year award for Coffman, a senior from Toledo, Ohio. She is the first Viking since 2004 to earn Player of the Year honors and also earns a spot on the All-League first team for the second consecutive season.
