Cleveland, OH-Freshman Brynna Mardis(Xenia, OH) has been named the Horizon League Women's Golf Player of the Week, the league office announced today.
Mardis won her first tournament and set season-lows for both 18 and 36-hole scores in taking home medalist honors at the IUPUI Lady Jaguar Invitational this past weekend.
Mardis set a season-low with an even par 72 in the opening round and followed it up with a 76 in the second round to set a new 36-hole mark with a 4-over par 148.
She finished in a tie for first place with three others and prevailed on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff. Mardis birdied the par-3 16th hole to secure the playoff victory.
Mardis and the Vikings prepare to head south for the Horizon League Championship tournament. The tournament will take place over three days starting Sunday with the opening round at Mission Inn Resort outside of Orlando, Florida.
